| Our Local Area Wirral leads the way with best North West beaches: 2nd June 2010. Wirral boasts three out of the five ‘recommended’ North West beaches named in this year’s Good Beach Guide. The annual guide published by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) highlights Wirral’s three bathing beaches (Meols, Moreton and New Brighton) as ‘recommended’, the guide’s highest accolade. This recommendation is only given to beaches that have bathing water tested by the Environment Agency throughout the year and that meet the highest European standard for water quality.
